The main access to and exit from Hyde Park Landing is from River Road.  There is also a Dock Street entrance. SEE MAP

You will need a KEY CODE in order to operate the automatic gate from the River Road side to either enter or re-enter Hyde Park Landing. YOU WILL ALSO NEED THE COMBINATION FOR THE DOCK STREET GATE LOCK FOR USE IN THE EVENT OF MALFUNCTION OF THE AUTOMATIC GATE AT THE RIVER ROAD ACCESS. You must obtain a personal key code AND THE DOCK STREET LOCK COMBINATION from the office by calling or emailing ahead. Allow at least 24 hours in advance of your intended use of the facilities.

    RIVER ROAD ACCESS

The River Road access is via an automatic swing gate, which opens into the property. While the entrance is served by a double leaf gate, only the northerly leaf opens using the automatic system. The southerly leaf is locked. Do not be fooled by the visual appearance that both leaves are locked.

The automatic gate has a key pad on the street side, and a push button on the inside of the property to operate it.

ENTRY FROM RIVER ROAD TO PROPERTY USING KEY CODE

To enter from the River Road, use the keypad.  If you are in a motor vehicle, approach the keypad, but do not stop closer than 10 feet from the gate.  There is a vehicle detector loop beneath the pavement directly in front of the gate on the street side.  If your vehicle enters the loop area, the gate will not open even when the proper access code is entered into the key pad.

Once you have entered the proper access code, the gate will open into the property.

Do not proceed to enter the property before the gate has completely opened.  Do not enter from the street side until the gate has stopped in the open position. Wind gusts can cause the gate to close due to an obstruction sensor in the gate system and in turn may cause damage to anything in its path.

The gate will automatically close either: (1) 15 seconds after the vehicle has cleared the gate, or (2) 15 seconds after it stops in the completely opened position in the event that no vehicle enters the property.

It takes approximately 10 seconds for the gate to fully open.  If the gate begins to close while a vehicle is in either the street-side or property-side detector loop, then the gate will return to the open position for an additional 15 seconds.

EXIT FROM PROPERTY TO RIVER ROAD

To activate the automatic gate opener from the property side, stop at the utility pole nearest the gate and press & release the push-button switch found on the west side of the pole.

There is a vehicle detector loop beneath the pavement approximately 16 feet in front of the gate on the property side. If your vehicle enters the loop area, the gate will not open when the button is pushed.  Do not proceed to exit the property before the gate has almost completely opened, or the gate will stop.  Do not exit from the property side until the gate has stopped in the open position.  Wind gusts can cause the gate to close due to an obstruction sensor in the gate system and in turn may cause damage to anything in its path.

The gate will automatically close either: (1) 15 seconds after the vehicle has cleared the gate, or (2) 15 seconds after it stops in the completely opened position in the event that no vehicle exits the property.  It takes approximately 10 seconds for the gate to fully open.

It takes approximately 10 seconds for the gate to fully open.  If the gate begins to close while a vehicle is in either the street-side or property-side detector loop, then the gate will return to the open position for an additional 15 seconds.

When the automatic gate is operational, the Dock Street access will be locked with a chain and padlock.

    DOCK STREET ACCESS

AUTOMATIC GATE MALFUNCTION - USE OF DOCK STREET GATE

If the automatic gate at the River Road Access does not open, then ingress and egress will be available via the Dock Street gate, until such time that the automatic gate is returned to service.

If the automatic gate malfunctions when you are attempting to enter or exit the property, use the Dock Street entrance.  The Dock Street entrance has a combination pad lock on it for use by Permittees.

In such instances, unlock the Dock Street gate when you enter or exit and leave it open. To open the combination lock, align the tumbler wheels to the proper code and depress the shackle.  The lock will open.

Notify Hyde Park Landing at 845-229-9669 that the automatic gate has malfunctioned.

    SAFEGUARDING ACCESS INFORMATION

    CODES AND COMBINATION

Do not indiscriminately give your key pad access code or the Dock Street lock combination to guests.  Please accompany them to Hyde Park Landing, since you are the permittee and they will not be familiar with the operation of the gates.

If you are a paid up seasonal marina permittee, the code will be valid until the end of October.

If you are a paid up winter storage permittee, the code will be valid until June.

The Dock Street lock combination will be changed periodically.  You will be advised of any change.

If you are a service provider:

    •           the key pad code will be valid until you receive a notice of change.

    •           you will be advised of any change in the Dock Street combination.

PERMITTEES WITH TRANSMITTER (GARAGE DOOR TYPE) OPENERS

Your transmitter allows you to open the River Road gate from either the street or property side. Use the transmitter as you would a garage door opener, following the same approach precautions as described for key pad access.

Remember, the gate closes automatically.  There is no need to use the transmitter to close the gate.

You also are assigned a key pad access code.

You also use the Dock Street combination lock for entry and access in the event of a malfunction in the automatic gate on River Road.

    ACCESS FROM THE HUDSON RIVER

There are two means of access to Hyde Park Landing from the Hudson River:

                Riverside Dock (see below)

                Inletside Dock (see below)

    RIVERSIDE DOCK

If your boat is less than 25 feet in length, and draws less than 5 feet (water depth at mean low water on the waterside of the dock), you may use the riverside Dock temporarily to access the landside of Hyde Park Landing.  The riverside dock is a floating dock that is attached to the bridge spanning the inlet by a ramp.  The Riverside Dock is not anchored other than by the ramp gangway. Approach the dock against the current and land as gently as possible.

For those boats over 25 feet in length, you must provide your own dinghy to access from the River.  Use one of the two transient moorings at the north end of the mooring field (see map) to tie up your boat and dinghy in to either the riverside or inletside dock (see below).

Once your boat is made fast to the dock, use the gangway to access the bridge deck and proceed across the railroad tracks to the inlet side of the landing. Be careful crossing the tracks. They are used by both high speed passenger and freight trains.  Look before proceeding across the tracks.

    INLETSIDE DOCK

If you have a dinghy, tie up at one of the transient moorings (see map) and dinghy in under the railroad bridge to the inlet side of the Landing. Tie up at any available space or, if there is no space available, tie up to the work barge as if it were a dock.

You will note there are tide boards on the middle bridge pier that show the water depth and headroom in feet at any tide stage.  There is normally 2.5 feet of headroom at mean high water.

Check the tide charts for tidal information (see “Tides at Hyde Park” section of website).  Remember, these are predicted tides, with no consideration to the effects of wind or barometric pressure.

Generally, southerly winds result in higher high tides and higher low tides, while northerly winds result in lower high tides and lower low tides.

Low pressure systems also cause actual tides that differ from those predicted by the tide charts.

Once you arrive at the inlet side of the Landing you can exit using the River Road gate as long as you have obtained a keypad code to re-enter.

When you come ashore, go directly to the “Transient Information” side of the kiosk next to the main gate on River Road to get instructions on how to get out, and then back in through the automatic gate.  You will need a code to get back in, and the instructions provide information on that, as well as transportation, where you are, where you can go, etc.  Refer to the “Rates & Access” section of this website for gate operating details.
